Voyageurs NP (Rainy Lake) - 6/2/25

Trip Day 13 - Monday

0530-Cloudy and windy. 65F/65F.

Smokey Sunrise - Start To The Day

The port guy needed to be tightened since wind is from west. Too much slack in starboard. Got dressed and made the adjustment. Not sure what I will do. Maybe too much wind to move as planned.

0750-Bible study, prayer, and reading done. Verses for the day: "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" (Mat 14:28-31)

Time for breakfast.

0830-Departed boat site.

Exiting Brule Narrows

Green Can Passing To Starboard

1020-Arrived at Dryweed Island (R82). Traveled 8.9 miles in calm seas. A surprise since winds were up to 15 mph at wake up. It was cool, gray and windy, not very appealing at the time.  Now it is sunny, calm, and hot! 72F/77F. Quite the switch.

Approaching New Site

Tying Up To A Very Rocky Shore

This is the last boat site of the trip. About 3.6 miles from the ramp pull out.

Due to forecast winds above 10 mph tonight I bypassed Fish Camp West (R86) since it is exposed to the north. R78 would have been an option but I decided to get closer in the event winds come up. I have firewood so a layover and at least one campfire appealed to me.

Electronics Catch All Storage - Note Smashed Phone Display

Thunder just let loose, rain to follow.

1900-Finished ice cream with strawberries. Perfect in these warm temps.

Had to go out and tighten the lines to minimize boat movement on the rocks. Wind was gusting to 20 mph stretching the lines.

Watch Your Step!

Rain finally arrived. I hope it clears up the smokey atmosphere.

To bed early.
