0700-Cloudy, calm. Supposed to be colder today. However, last night was the warmest of the trip so far. 66F/64F.
0815-Bible verse of the day: "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? ...faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."(Jas 2:14,17b)
0945-Light mist. 72F/63F. Prayer and reading done. Time to make breakfast.
1025-Breakfast finished. Will make a drone flight and then make the decision to move or not.
Getting Ready To Depart
1125-Departed the site for one about 10 miles away. Passed north of Fox Island on my way out to the channel.
Wind Picked Up - Looking For Alternate Site
Wind was stronger in the channel leading to the NE part of the lake. It was maybe 10 mph, so I punted and diverted to a future planned site that was closer.
Arrived At Another Rocky Islet
1300-Arrived at the new site. Only traveled 4.8 miles. A place called Northam Bay. Another rock islet was chosen. 65F/65F.
Looking West From New Site
1700-Spent the afternoon backing up video from SD cards to portable hard drive. Washed dishes. Sent a photo by request of a follower. Will go cut and split some firewood.
1740-After cutting firewood I set up the fire pit and chair for the evening fire. Time for chili dinner.
Chili Dinner
1815-Fiinished dinner: Chili, salad, rolls, and a cold beer. 70F/64F. Sunny and clear.
Sun Set
Beautiful Evening By The Fire
2055-Came in from the fire. Time to hit the sack.
Another Evening Fire
Tripped in the dark and the fall bloodied my thumb! My wounded left big toe is killing me affecting my balance. The very rough terrain doesn't help.
0700-Clear, calm, fog over the water. 57F/50F. Coffee is on!
0845-Bible study is finished. My verse for today is: "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." (Rom 1:20)
0930-Prayer and reading time completed. Time to make breakfast and get ready to depart.
1050-Took a while to load all the firewood, chair, tripod, chainsaw, ax, and fire pit. Then I had to set up 3 cameras before I could depart.
Firewood Stacked Aboard
Tow Bars Held Up By Tie To Bow Pull Ropes - Keeps Tow Bars Out Of Water
1330-Arrived at the new islet in an unnamed bay. I used a dead stump in the water for my starboard tie. Traveled 7.6 miles. Another beautiful fall day!
Unique Tie Up - Using Tree Stump In Water
Different Perspective
Further confirmed that many reefs are not on the chart. It happened three times on this leg.
I was able to fly the drone in the canyon on the way out but there was lots of work to do it successfully. I had low battery warnings on both landings!
The Canyon
1430-Dishes are up next. But I will take some relax time first and have a cold glass of white wine as first priority.
1530-Took photos of the site, then did dishes. Grilled chicken is on the menu for dinner.
Grilled Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Rolls, White Wine
1720-Light breeze, sunny, 80F/79F. Finished my grilled chicken dinner with salad, mashed potatoes, rolls, and white wine. Set up the fire pit for an evening fire.
Ready For The Evening Fire - Great Place For Portable Fire Pit
1930-Started the fire and experimented making a call to Kelly using my phone (VOIP, Google Voice). Had to change some settings on my phone to make it work using Starlink.
2150-Came in from the fire. Stars are out bright tonight and have been for a couple of nights.
Another Great Evening Fire
Lightening observed to the north. I checked radar but it will pass to the north and should not rain here. Time for bed.
0805-Verse of the day from Bible study: "See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God." (Heb 3:12)
0915-Prayer and reading finished. My current book is "Clear Thinking In A Messy World" a Christian guide to logic, reason, and cognitive bias, by Kenneth Samples and Mark Perez. Time to make breakfast.
0930-After breakfast I started to get gear ready to fish, hike, and hunt for firewood to bring back for an evening fire.
1050-Will head for the trail first.

More Trail
1430-Returned to the boat after hiking 2.4 miles total and bush whacking up steep terrain to access the trail. It was successful but not easy. No interesting critters observed but found bear tracks. Caught no fish either coming or going. Need to go get more firewood. But a cold beer and a snack was in order first.
The Hike
Running The Gauntlet Again On The Return!
Fishing On Return
1600-Back from cutting firewood. I went over to a site with a couple of dead trees and cut them up and hauled much of it back. I wrapped it in a small tarp to protect the dinghy.
My Firewood Spot
Cutting Wood With New Mini Chainsaw (8")
Firewood Loaded
Upon my return as I was unloading the firewood a power boat motored by with a group of sightseers. I couldn't really believe it! Then a but a bit later another comes by blaring music from load speakers, again sightseeing. I felt like I was in Disney Land. Very irritating for someone oriented to being in the quiet and pristine wilds. I know, I know, they are just trying to enjoy the season too!
Approaching Islet
I wasn't sure I could safely bathe with all the boat traffic. I found a natural bath on the west side of the island and got cleaned up and thankfully no Looky Loos showed up.
1800-Just finished dinner. Pork roast, salad, rolls, and white wine. Now I need to go out and get set up for the evening fire.
Using Portable Fire Pit Instead Of Rock Fire Ring
2135-Came in from the fire. Stars were out, a beautiful evening. I will sip on some Baileys before bed. I plan to move in the morning.
0600-Clear and calm. 53F/46F. Slept good last night.
0730-Bible study verses for the day: "You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the LORD Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands." (Hag 1:9-11).
0815-Time to make breakfast. 68F/49F, cool morning. Eggs, bacon, toast, and OJ are on the menu.
0900-Made two eggs over easy with bacon. Always great!
Cleaned up and starting packing up for departure. Retrieved the table and chair from shore along with my tripod and remaining firewood. Prepped the cams and drone.
Pulling The Lines For Departure
1010-Departed the site. Drone does not want to track correctly.
Beautiful fall day in beautiful country! My destination goal is the upper end of Canal Bay. There was an island picnic site near the entrance to the Bay.
Entering "The Canyon"
1130-Entrance to the lower Canal Bay is truly a canyon with high cliffs on both sides. Made a sharp right turn in shallow water and passed a second picnic site. I kept going and made the left turn to continue up the Inlet.
The Canyon
Tight Quarters
1330-Eventually, I made it to the upper limit of the Bay and turned back a bit for a landing on what I call "The Rock", a small rock islet with only two larger trees. Even had a fire ring. I may have to search for more firewood with the dinghy. Traveled 7.5 miles.
Leg 2 Track
Tying Up
1500-Washed two days of accumulated dishes after heating up some leftover pizza to have with a cold beer to hold me until dinner.
1700-Flew the drone.
The Top End Of The Inlet, Called Hay Bay - Unique Islet Site
1730-Grilled steak, accompanied by mashed potatoes, salad, and red wine.
Island Plant Life
1830-Went ashore to set up the evening fire, camera, tripod, and chair.
Great Setting
1930-Started the fire and enjoyed the evening setting.
This Fire Was In A Rock Fire Ring
2100-Finally came in from the fire. Poured a Baileys while listening to an audio book, Jack Reacher's "The Hard Way".
0610-59F/55F. Partly cloudy, calm. Supposed to be more sun later.
0710-Mixed up a batch of coffee cake which is baking now. Coffee is on. 70F/55F. Temps will generally be lower today and wind will increase to 7 mph from the north. The plan is to explore and fish the long inlet with the dinghy which I tried to anchor in on Day 1. I will attempt to find the trail that passes close to the inlet and take a hike.
0740-Coffee was great as usual. The new cast iron porcelain lined tea pot and hand coffee bean grinder resulted in a premium taste. Time for Bible study.
0915-Study and prayer time done. Verse of the day is the apostle Paul telling King Agrippa what Christ told him on the road to Damascus:
"I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me...and that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance" (Act 26:17-18, 20b)
Time for breakfast.
0930-Breakfast finished. Preparing for hike, fishing, and drone flights on my dinghy excursion.
1045-Departed in the dinghy to explore the long narrow inlet to my NE and search for a trail access. I will do some fishing along the way and fly the drone when I can.
Heading Up The Inlet To Search For The Trail
I caught a 3lb northern pike going up the inlet.
1225-At the head of the inlet I set off to find the trail up through the trees and brush and found it without much trouble though the climb up the hill to the trail was steep. Large pines kept the undergrowth to a minimum, which helped.
Breaking Trail
The trail was well used indicating a cabin some where. I did find a couple less traveled side trails. I took a break on the way back to drink some water and eat some jerky to keep my energy level up.
Rocky Trail But Well Used
Distinct Wolf Track
As I was hiking along back to the dinghy I heard a four-wheeler approaching and jumped into the brush to hide. They never saw me. Looked like a young couple out joy riding. I preferred not making contact.
The Extent Of Wildlife Observed, Other Than Grouse & Tracks
Beautiful Fall Color
1320-I retuned to the boat after making the 3 mile round trip hike.
The Hike Track
1420-Heading back to the boat. On the way back I flew the drone and fished. Tried to video the fishing but the P2 battery went dead.
Flying The Drone While Heading Back
1530-Back at the boat after traveling in the dinghy for 4.4 miles round trip. Put all the batteries on their chargers and prepared to make pizza for dinner.
Dinghy Excursion
1700-Had pizza, salad, and a cold beer for dinner. Thawing strawberries to have with ice cream.
Pizza Dinner
1800-Prepared the fire pit then listened to an audiobook for a while before returning to the boat for dessert.
1900-Started the fire, took some video and photos, and read more of my audiobook.
Another Calm Night By The Fire
2000-Hosted a Zoom call but only my sisters Nancy and Mary showed up. Call went well using my tablet.
Another Remarkable Sunset
2120-Came in from the fire. Getting ready for bed.
