Voyageurs NP (Rainy Lake) - 5/30/25

Trip Day 10 - Friday

0525-Cloudy, hazy, calm. 63F/60F. It will get hot today!

0640-Worked to ensure I have backup of Zoleo on one of the tablets in the event my phone crashes due to impact damage from last evening.  It took a while to figure out only one device can be connected to Zoleo at a time.  Normally I would wait to do this until finished with my study time but mosquitos were bothering me so I killed most of them while working and drinking my morning coffee.

0810-Study time complete. Verse for today is: "At that time Jesus said, 'I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.'" (Mat 11:25). Time to make breakfast.

Getting Ready To Depart

0900-Preparing to depart.

Getting Ready To Back Away

Backing Out Of Boat Site

1045-Arrived at the new boat site. It is open, thank you Lord!. I plan to layover a couple nights. 67F/71F.

Batteries are all charging. Will transfer video to external drive from SD cards.

1215-Washed dishes. Then did a tick check since I'm still finding them crawling around.

Last night I also had a mouse try to get into bed with me. He was scrambling all over the boat  and finally got caught in a trap with old bait set way last fall! Thank you Lord!.

I wasn't getting any sleep with the occasional unexplained sounds and the sense he was on my bed covers, then snap!  Couldn't believe he went after that old crusty peanut butter from last fall. After that I could sleep better but the few mosquitoes in the boat began to harass me. Tonight I will put up the bunk net. Ticks, mice, and mosquitoes, if not one the other!

1440-Got all my video and pics transferred to the hard drive. Laptop used all of it's battery doing it.

Male Merganser

1550-Split some firewood. If conditions are conducive to have a fire tonight I will be ready.

Had cheese, nuts, crackers and white wine for a snack. I don't feel like dinner yet. 79F/81F

Was going to nap but it is too late in the afternoon for that.

1700-Listened to an audiobook and laid down for a while not really napping but it helped. Got up then and made chicken fried rice, salad, rolls, to have with white wine.

Fire Started Up Well

1800-Went out to the fire ring and took some video while waiting for the sun to set.

After Dark Fire Did Not Keep Mosquitoes At Bay

2140-Came in from the fire. Mosquitoes were pesty, not enough smoke. The fire was enjoyable. Crickets singing and wind is calm. Will set up the mosquito net over the bunk then have a Baileys and hit the sack.
