0655-High clouds, calm, 53F/45F.
0820-Bible study verses of the day: "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (Rom 3:22-24)
0935-Finished prayer and reading time. Working on breakfast.
1015-Cleaning up after breakfast. Retrieved chair, tripod, and ax from shore. Will cut up more wood and let it warmup in the sun. 70F/47F. Cold!
1040-Finished cutting and loading some firewood. Sun came out warming things up to 52F.
1235-Went fishing and exploring the upper end of Northam Bay. No bites but managed to have 2 snags! No critters except a turkey vulture!
Changed my mind, will wait and move tomorrow. I need to rest and I'm feeling lazy. The gusty cold wind discourages me a little. I prefer not to beat into a cold wind.
May bake some cookies to have with ice cream.
1700-Spent the afternoon listening to my audiobook while relaxing in my chair perched on a rock ashore. Had to wear my down vest because it was cold and windy.
Time to make dinner. I will make a quick drone flight afterward to get video of this rocky islet.
1730-Dinner is finished. Chicken fajita soup, salad, rolls, and white wine. Time to go fly the drone.
1755-Drone flight was successful.
Went back to my perch on the rock until I got cold. Observed a loon struggling to eat his dinner, a good sized bullhead. For several minutes. He seemed puzzled on just how to swallow the fish. It was a good sized fish and the spines my have been the problem (see notes below). He finally got around to swallowing the fish?
NOTE: Here was what AI said about this brown bullhead:
- Puncture Wounds: When threatened, bullheads lock these spines in a rigid, outward position. A thrashing fish can easily drive these sharp points into your skin, a painful experience often called being "finned" or "spined".
- Mild Venom: These spines are equipped with venom glands that release a mild toxin into the wound. This causes an immediate, intense stinging or burning sensation similar to a wasp or bee sting.
1910-After sunset, I was forced in from the cold. It was 54F but felt colder with the breeze. Fire would not have been pleasant tonight with the cold breeze.
It is still light out so I fired up the heater this evening, a first on this trip. There is a freeze warning for tonight and it sure feels like it!
Finished reading "Cape Rage" by Ron Corbett.
1920-Will listen to my audiobook for a while, "A Marriage At Sea" by Sophie Elmhirst then hit the sack.
